The 2016-17 NBA season kicked off on Tuesday, but new details about Kobe Bryant’s career finale also emerged this week.
At a live conference hosted by the Wall Street Journal, where we all go for our breaking sports news, Bryant outlined what he did to get psyched for his 60-point fiasco of a final game.
“My last game, I was actually at the office until 4 o’clock, 4:15, actually editing a bunch of short stories,” he said. “I lost track of time and looked at my watch and was like, ‘Oh, I better go home. I got my last game to play.'”
Sure. Gotta make sure there some artful plot construction and the supporting characters adequately support the central narrative.
Clearly, Kobe’s mind was elsewhere during the twilight of his career. I’m sure shooting 36% and getting wrapped up like a mummy was wearing thin.
Maybe distracting himself by editing some literature was exactly what he needed as he dropped 60 points and shot 44% against the Jazz.
